Medical Check-Up
The Continued Health Review was created at Albert Einstein Medicina Diagnóstica (Diagnostic Medicine) to offer check-up examinations to our patients and client companies. These check ups are focused on prevention and performed by a multidisciplinary team. Over 40 trained professionals are involved (physicians, nurses, nutrition specialists and physiotherapists). All the evaluations are carried out in a single day in an average of 6 hours. A follow-up visit is required for exam results and physician feedback. The Continued Health Review includes:
See details bellow: 1. Cardiovascular InvestigationThis investigation aims to evaluate factors that contribute to atherosclerotic disease. Physicians use the Framingham Risk Score, a risk assessment tool for estimating 10-year risk of developing cardiovascular events (myocardial infarction and cerebrovascular accident - Stroke). This score is used by our professionals to guide the establishment of preventive measures. All patients have their Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) assessed. This tool is used to screen for Peripheral Obstructive Arterial Disease (POAD). POAD raises the chances of a myocardial infarction or Stroke within the next 5 years by 5 to 7 times. This exam detects POAD in its asymptomatic phase, determines its severity, and detects disease progression. Levels of physical activity are assessed with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), developed as an instrument for cross-national monitoring of physical activity and inactivity. Special attention is given to smoking cessation and regular exercise counseling, all tailored to the needs and characteristics of each patient. 2. Oncology InvestigationBesides reviewing genetic and family risk factors for malignancies, our doctors carry out total abdominal ultrasounds, thoracic X-Rays, mammograms, colposcopies and colonoscopies to detect tumors and other suspect conditions. Patients are evaluated by a general practitioner, a dermatologist, an urologist and a gynecologist. 3. Ophthalmic consultationUsed to screen for eye diseases that might cause vision reduction or loss. 4. Phonoaudiologic consultationUsed to detect hearing impairments and follow the progression of pre-existent hearing problems. |
